About Newcastle Airport

Newcastle Airport started life on the 26th July 1935 - a grass runway, a club house, a hangar, workshops, an ambulance room, a hose for petrol and a garage.
Newcastle International Airport lies some 5 miles/8 kms North West of Newcastle next to the village of Ponteland. It is close to the A1 trunk road which gives quick and easy access to Newcastle City, Tyneside, the Scottish Borders and indeed Edinburgh which is just over a two hour drive away.

Callers Pegasus Ground floor A foreign currency exchange service is available together with a full travel agency service from this unit which is located opposite WH Smith between the international and domestic arrivals areas.
Special Needs
Within the terminal you can use wheelchairs provided and also provide specialist vehicles for easy access to aircraft.
Entrance
At the entrance to the main terminal building, there are slow mode on revolving entrance doors for wheelchair users. Loop An induction loop system is in operation in various parts of the terminal building.
Toilets
There are disabled toilets with alarm button and radar key facilities. These are obtainable from the Information Desk on the ground floor.
Telephones
Minicom telephone at the Information Desk 0191 214 3333 A pay text-phone is available on the main concourse opposite the Information Desk. Induction coupler on payphones and assistance telephone in Duty-Free Lounge.
Transport
There is a cabin-lift vehicle to allow boarding of passengers without negotiating aircraft steps and lift access to higher levels. Assistance Passenger Service Assistants are available on request. In addition to the above, a number of Airport staff are trained to communicate in sign language when required.

provides a delicious range of Asian dishes including lamb balti, vegetable jalfrezi and beef madras all served with a naan bread, poppadom, pilau rice and side salad.
Costa Coffee Shop
First floor & Ground floor. An extensive choice of mouth-watering sandwiches, panini, patisserie, specialist coffees, teas, soft drinks including the new gelatte (iced coffee) and fruit smoothies. A limited range of wines and beers are also available.
Cushie Butterfields Pub
First floor. A traditional style pub with beers, ales and spirits featuring an indoor beer garden with excellent airside views. This relaxing and unique setting offers a great choice of food including gammon steak, beef & mushroom pie, deep-fried cod or rib-eye steaks. Excellent airside views in a relaxing and unique setting.
